Didn't the court ruling state that the WT was NOT required to protect the congregation?
They ruled that the WT didn't have a 'duty to warn' the other members of the congregation about J Kendrick, the molester. However, they DID find the Watchtower NEGLIGENT for 'lack of supervision' during field service.
That finding of negligence, by itself, could open the door for many more lawsuits, since countless numbers of children have spent countless hours alone with strangers in their cars, during 'field service.' That's my takeaway, FWIW. I'm not a JW, but I think I have an idea of the big picture. Especially when looking at the multi-million dollar lawsuits that have sucessfully forced many Catholic diocese into bankruptcy. And yes, I do believe that attorney Zalkin was behind some of these lawsuits. And I do believe that the GB knows this too, or at least their own attorneys do.

Has anyone had a jw hack into their email/tablet/phone etc to spy?
by purrpurr ini note stillin has had a recent problem with this.
i also know of two cases were an elder went through a brothers phone to get dirt on him.
and another were a sisters email was hacked into to get dirt on her.. in both cases apparently it was for their spiritual protection (!

Anyone??
Seriously, I don't know if the elderoos see me as a: potential recruit, a threat to congregational unity, or a mixture of both.
Like I say. Wife and I get along well. I have a pretty good job, am educated, and I like to do cool stuff with my family (travel, outdoors, sport events, ect.)
Elders know I'm very protective of my kids, and would deal with any possible abuse issues in a very brutal manner. Just wondering if they get to suspecting something about her, maybe not being 100% R&F JW, then how far would they push this snooping/stalking/harrasment, knowing that I'm around.

WOW!! Is all I can say.
All these accounts of people being snooped on, stalked, or having their house broken into, have me thinking WTF?!?
Question:
Suppose you have a couple. Wife is JW, hubby's not, never was, never will be, hence he's not considered 'apostate.' Hubby has good relationship with wife, and he 'gets along' with the elders. How likely is it that these elders will go snooping on a couple/family like this one. Knowing full well that the 'unbelieving' hubby isn't subject to their stupid rules, and he keeps a 12 gauge shotgun in the house.

'Conti' Court decision secures Watchtower's Policy of confidentiality
by telemetry11 inthe court on the rule of confidentiality of penitential communications and evidentiary privilege--.. decision reads:.
"the law generally protects the confidentiality of communications with clergy like those of kendrick to the elders here.".
"if the person has a constitutional right to independence in making religious choices, the recognition of an evidentiary privilege is an apt means of protecting that autonomy.

Dude, are you high, or something?
I think it's more a case of literal "if/then" type of self-analysis run amok. Sort of like Kirk vs Nomad:

"adversly affects church freedom..."
Well..."boo f-ing hoo." Poor churches. Poor catholic diocese getting sued and going bankrupt.
It's the same logic that the NRA uses in the US. After Justice Scalia all but obliterated the "well regulated militia" clause, they feel it as an attack against their 'freedoms' when gun control measures are proposed. What about MY freedom to be able to walk into a Wal-Mart, without running into bubba and his AR-15 slung over his shoulder?
Likewise, what about MY freedom to not have a PEDOPHILE come knocking at my door, when the elders who assigned him that territory know FULL WELL that he has a criminal history of pedophilia.
Deal with it "churches." No one's taking away your freedom of worship. In fact, you're getting quite the tax break. Think about THAT, "fisherboy."

The way you two banter back & forth (vidiot & punk), reminds me of Hawkeye Pierce & Hunnicutt/Trapper from MASH. Funny as hell.
I guess that makes me Col. Blake.
Hmmm, who's our Frank Burns?

Fisherman lives up to HIS name: an overly pedantic, word-twisting troll, who is no doubt a JW, or at least their biggest apologist.
And I thought JWs were to 'imitate Jesus.' Hmmm, I missed the part in the Bible where Jesus referred to others as "idiots." Was it after meeting the Samaratin? The leper? What a way to represent your faith.

Actually the Conti Appellate decision secures Watchtower's Policy.
Certainly, insofar as 'duty to warn' is concerned. Unfortunately for the Watchtower, their negligence for 'lack of field service supervision'...was affirmed.
They have 1 win, and 1 KO.
Point being, that 'Jehovah's organization' doesn't exactly come out of this looking pristine.

If the purpose of the lawsuit is really to use legal proceedings to force WT to change, they failed.
That's rubbish. The GB will not ADMIT the need for change, because they are deluded by their own beliefs. The fact that they haven't changed, only serves to expose their flawed policies for what they are, and opens the door to further lawsuits by those who may have been molested...say, during field service. The GB are shooting themselves in their collective feet.
It's no more of a failure than Neville Chamberlain's declaration of 'peace in our time' in response to Hitler's actions. Well, guess who eventually won the war?
